Ready to Read, Dr.Preston

On August 12, 2019 when I started American English class it has been a rollercoaster. I have had my ups and downs during the first semester, but I had to stay focus like I would have done for any other class. I’m not too happy on how I did this semester just because I didn’t try my best on doing the online work. In my pervious English classes, we would only read from the books and everything on paper. I expected to read some Shakespeare from back in the years, but we haven’t probably later on the year. So far, the semester I have let myself fail in many occasions, but I have not completely given up, I’m going to accomplish more next semester than I did this semester.
When I first meet Dr. Preston it looked like he was a cool guy and didn’t really mind what others had to say. On the first day once the class had started, he let us the students decide what way we wanted to be taught. Dr. Preston had stepped out of the room to let us decide if we wanted to be taught book wise or his method of teaching which is online sources. We all chose the online because we wanted to have a taste of how it worked. He made the course seem really interesting. The course has been interesting so far, the online helped me get more in touch and get comfortable with the internet which is being used now a day. The internet is going to take over in the future, so I got to be prepared and keep in mind all the information about the internet Dr. Preston have gave us so far.
In my English class every morning Dr. Preston has a post from his blog on the screen and that’s how we start the day. We begin with him talk about what’s the plan for today then we begin our journals. Most of the journals topics I don’t have trouble at all but then he gives us topics where I have to actually think about. The ones I have to think about I start by making it since in my headfirst before writing It down so it could make more since. That’s one of the things that I believe I did good this semester. Dr. Preston had us memorize poems and post them on the blog which I didn’t do but I did memorize them. I’m a shy person so those things are certainty not for me. That’s a challenge for me because I don’t have the confidence that I want.
In the beginning of the course I didn’t really feel any tension only with the blogs. When Dr. Preston would ask us to post a blog, I didn’t really feel confident with my writing. This class is giving me the opportunity to improve in my writing. Personally, I have never liked english class and having to write things like this. I learned that you have to stay positive and have an open mind about what your reading or writing.
When it comes to making a routine of school It takes time. For me english in the morning is a good subject to start the day with. English can really open your mind up and it gets you prepared for the rest of the day. There are many journals topics where I get thinking throughout the day which makes me not hate english so much other than enjoy it. To wrap it up this semester made me more open minded than I was in the beginning of the year and grateful for the opportunities Dr. Preston has been giving us.
